MARK CAVENDISH Mark Cavendish is a cyclist from the Isle of Man (born 21 May 1985). Originally a track cyclist competing in the Madison, points race, and scratch race, he moved on to become a professional road racing cyclist in 2007.  has given up hope of claiming the green jersey at the Tour De France after he was docked points for dangerous sprinting.

While he competes for the overall titles, he is considered a climbing specialist.  seized the leader's yellow jersey with victory on the 207.5km15th stage yesterday from Pontarlier to Verbier in the Alps. He leads by 1min 37 seconds from American Lance Armstrong with Britain's Bradley Wiggins a further 1min 46 behind.
