[TV: “The Beverly Hillbillies” in Terrace, I, 93–94] See : Irascibility Suzanne Toulson bought her granddaughter ABC building blocks from Morrisons - to find a series of spelling errors. The learning toy has 26 blocks, each having a letter of the alphabet and a word that starts with that letter. But the Y block misspelled yacht yacht: see motorboating; sailing. yacht Sail- or motor-driven vessel used for racing or recreation. The term is popularly applied to large recreational engine-powered boats; the sailboats known as yachts and used for racing are usually light and as yatch and the U block said umbrella should be umberlla. Suzanne, who had planned to give the blocks to ninemonth-old Millie, said: "There are only 26 words on these toys. You'd think they'd be able to get them all right. "These are supposed to be educational." The pounds 3.22 soft toys were made in China. But despite the mistakes her local Morrisons in Duckinfield, Greater Manchester, at first refused to remove them from the shelves. Suzanne said: "When I contacted their customer services, they told me that new stocks were on their way but they were not going to withdraw the ones with mistakes but let them 'fizzle out' instead. I couldn't believe their attitude." Morrisons yesterday said the blocks have now been withdrawn from all their supermarkets. A spokeswoman said: "Customers can return the products to a store for a full refund. "Morrisons apologises for any inconvenience caused and the issue is being investigated with suppliers." |
