Blogging to stop child labour.

NEW writers are contributing to the blog platforms on our journallive.co.uk website all the time. Here is a selection of some of the best recent postings: Ethical living Ethical living is the philosophy of making decisions for daily life which take into account ethics and moral values, particularly with regard to sustainability and environmentalism. At present it is largely a personal choice, and not an organized social movement.  blogger Anna Heywood on her campaign to ensure school uniforms are not exploiting child labour abroad: "Many parents would not choose to go and buy cheap sweaters from China but are forced to, through schools stipulating where the uniform can be purchased through single supplier contracts.

"I have done a lot of research which found that whilst schools are forcing us to buy their products, they in fact have done little or no research of their own to make sure five-year-olds in developing countries are not making clothes for our children.

"I keep being told that my campaign is impossible and that the clothes industry is too complex to police. I disagree. The school uniform market is possibly the most stable there is.

"Stores have a good idea how much uniform they will sell and at what time of the year. Surely if any ethical initiative is to be trialled out in the clothes industry then school uniforms is a great place to start." Hannah Davies on life as a new mother: "My mother-in-law told me she'd never had a truly unbothered nights sleep since her eldest ELDEST. He or she who has the greatest age.

on me. I haven't blogged for a while, this is for a few reasons: I have managed to mainly remove Otis from my lap for his naps (mainly), Otis is sleeping less and feeding quicker (only 10 mins breastfeeding instead of 30) but the primary reason is the terrible lack of sleep.

"New parents always mention the lack of sleep and indeed in that first two months I thought I'd seen the worst of it: days merging into nights, waking six times a night or more, Otis thinking 3am would be a nice time to wake for the day.

"But I thought all of that had gone, and I was fairly happy with his sleep cycle of 8pm until 4am, feed and then sleep until 7am.
