There are a lot of people who, since acquiring the Internet, have joined the blogging revolution. Blogging refers to the act of writing a brief story or anecdote known as a ''post'' that can range in length anywhere from one sentence to 700 words long or more. Typically, a decent sized blog post will be in the 100 word to 250 word range because the target audience of blogs are people who don''t really want to spend much time sifting through a whole bunch of verbage. Get to the point. Be clever. Grab the reader''s attention. That''s the point.

Bloggin is much easier said than done though. Typically, blogs are best written when done so by someone within that niche. For instance, someone who manages a running blog may have an easier time throwing together a blog post about running than someone who is from the technical field of computers who tries to write about a running topic. For many blog owners, the whole point of having the blog is so that they may attract attention to something bigger....such as a website. This is why many bloggers also have dueling websites.

Blogs are very similar to websites in the fact that many of them can look exactly like a website. However, blogs are a little different in that you don''t have all of the neat features that a website might such as a sitemap and other nifty things. You can, however, model a webpage to function more or less like a blog. Blog interfaces are typically meant to be more fun for the reader. Not that they aren''t meant to be taken seriously, but there is a general understanding that their purpose is more relaxed.

Another great thing about blogs is that they are free to set up and incredibly easy to set up and maintain. Google offers free blogging through an application called ?Blogger? in which those who are new to blogging can set up an account with excellent step-by-step directions on how to do so. Additionally, blogging is great for those of us who are not quite as Internet savvy as we would like. For this reason, blogging is easy and encourages more people to have self confidence as they work their way around writing on the Internet. Other blogging services that are available include Typepad and Wordpress. What makes each blog service different? Well, most of them are the same. However, one blogging service may offer a little more flexibility or different design layout options than another. Additionally, it simply comes down to what your personal preference is. For some people, the Wordpress blogs are preferred over the Google blogs. In order to have a Blogger account, you have to register a Google email in order to do so.

Blogging is a great vehicle for creating a place to house information as well as to encourage feedback from others, thus enhancing your overall online experience. If you''re not sure whether you want to blog with one particular service over another, simply look around and see what works best for you.
