"The New Swiss Family Robinson" (1/10/99) -- Jane Seymour and her
real-life husband James Keach star in this action-packed feature
version of the classic Johann Wyss novel. In the film, the Robinson
family plans to fulfill their dream of sailing around the world. They
jubilantly set off in their sailboat for the voyage from Hong Kong to
Australia, until a violent storm shipwrecks them on a remote tropical
island near Borneo. That proves the least of their problems. David
Carridine, who plays the unsavory character who sold the family their
boat, has been following them on their journey with an evil plan in
mind, and the defenseless Robinsons must use all their ingenuity on
the tropical island to defeat the scoundrel. From Total Films U.K.
"Selma, Lord, Selma" (1/17/99) -- Selma, Alabama, 1965. As seen
through the eyes of two African-American schoolgirls, the harrowing,
profoundly moving early days of the civil rights movement which
changed the American nation forever are portrayed in this searing
drama, based on the memoirs of Sheyann Webb-Christburg and Rachel West
Nelson. A northern white seminary student named Jonathan Daniels
(Mackenzie Astin) comes to the south to help Dr. Martin Luther King
Jr. (Clifton Powell) organize a black voter registration march amidst
the ever-escalating dangers of hatred, prejudice and racial violence.
Young Rachel West's family supports the marchers, but the angry whites
terrify the parents of her friend Sheyann Webb (Jurnee Smollett). As
Dr. King's movement gains momentum, random attacks and intimidation
against blacks increase. News of the crisis in Selma begins to
trickle out across the country. Hour by hour, the tension mounts
steadily as the time draws near to begin the march to Montgomery.
Then tragedy strikes. A world premiere from Walt Disney Television.
"A Saintly Switch" (1/24/99) -- For delightfully madcap, mixed-up,
laughter-filled entertainment, "A Saintly Switch" uses comedy to
demonstrate a great lesson about how hard it is to walk in someone
else's shoes. The gender-bending movie, directed by
Oscar(R)-nominated Peter Bogdanovich, stars David Alan Grier as a pro
quarterback dad and Vivica A. Fox as a feisty, loving mom who switch
personalities and live in each others' bodies, thanks to the
unintentional interference of their children and some good,
old-fashioned New Orleans voodoo. Tomboy Annette (Shadia Simmons) and
her younger brother Clarke (Scott Owen Cumberbatch) discover a secret
room in the family's old mansion, which once belonged to a sorceress,
and concoct a potion to help their bickering parents reconcile.
Instead, each parent inhabits the other's body, leading to uproarious
complications and startling new insights into their respective lives.
Everything gets really confused when Sara -- or is it Dan? -- becomes
pregnant! Rue McClanahan also stars. A world premiere from Walt
Disney Television.
"Rodgers & Hammerstein's Cinderella" (2/14/99) -- A 1998 multiple Emmy
Award-nominee and a colossal primetime ratings winner, the magical
fairy tale of a young girl's dream and a prince's yearning for love
shimmers to exquisite life once again in the encore presentation of
this lyrical all-star production of "Rodgers & Hammerstein's
Cinderella," the most watched program for the week when it premiered
November 2, 1997. Superstar Whitney Houston casts a magical, musical
spell as the Fairy Godmother, and singing sensation Brandy captivates
in the title role of this spectacular live-action multi-cultural
production. The fanciful tale of sibling rivalry, love at first sight
and the secret of inner beauty takes every advantage of the
extraordinary vocal talents of the cast and sets the stage for pure
romance and innocence, comedy and splendor. Whoopi Goldberg, Jason
Alexander and Bernadette Peters lend their stellar Broadway talents to
make this a place where dreams really do come true. "Rodgers &
Hammerstein's Cinderella" is from Citadel Entertainment, L.P.,
Storyline Entertainment and BrownHouse Productions in association with
Walt Disney Television.
"The Little Mermaid" (2/21/99) -- In the broadcast premiere of this
"under the sea" animated musical feature, a young mermaid named Ariel
yearns to become human to fulfill her longing to meet handsome Prince
Eric, whom she has worshipped from afar. Her dearest friends
Sebastian the crab, Flounder the fish and Scuttle the seagull try to
convince her life is better beneath the sea, and her father, King
Triton, royally disapproves of her "earthly" interests. However, the
headstrong Ariel impulsively strikes a "bargain" with the devious
seawitch Ursula to make her wish come true -- but soon discovers
something fishy about the deal. The film won Academy Awards(R) for
Best Score (Alan Menken) and Best Song, "Under the Sea" (Howard Ashman
and Alan Menken). From Walt Disney Pictures.

awe-inspiring box office feature film, Academy Award-winning actor
Richard Dreyfuss stars as Glenn Holland, a man whose life leads him in
an unexpected direction when he reluctantly accepts a job as a high
school music teacher. Holland, a musician and composer, dreams of
writing one magnificent piece of music as his contribution to the
world. But he finds his true calling sharing his love of music with
his students, using everything from Beethoven to Ray Charles for
inspiration. Thirty years later, Glenn Holland realizes his life's
legacy is greater than he could ever have dreamed. Glenne Headly, Jay
Thomas and Olympia Dukakis also star. From Hollywood Pictures.
"Ed" (3/7/99) -- Ed is quite a guy. A minor league third-baseman, he
loves playing baseball and is always ready for fun, but he never
monkeys around -- even if he is a full-grown, adult chimpanzee. In
"Ed," an irresistible family comedy about learning to enjoy life, Ed
becomes the improbable tutor for Cooper, a nervous new pitcher played
by "Friends" star Matt LeBlanc, who is just getting his first big
break. Cooper's jitters perplex Chubb (Jack Warden), the beleaguered
team's manager, who gets the idea to make Cooper and Ed roommates.
Ed's boundless enthusiasm for the sport of baseball changes Cooper and
inspires the whole team. Everything is going great until the nasty
team president, Kirby Woods (Patrick Kerr), gets too greedy. Jayne
Brook, Bill Cobbs and Doren Fein also star. From Universal Pictures.
"Matilda" (3/14/99) -- Imagine an extraordinarily bright little girl,
in love with books and learning, who is stuck with a pair of parents
too incredibly stupid to pay her the slightest attention.
Six-year-old Matilda (Mara Wilson) is the heroine of this darkly comic
fantasy drawn from Roald Dahl's classic children's novel. Having
convinced her crooked car salesman father Harry Wormwood (Danny
DeVito) and her bingo-obsessed mother Zinnia (Rhea Perlman) to send
her to school, Matilda is bundled off to Crunchem Hall, where students
cringe before the monstrous headmistress Miss Trunchbull (Pam Ferris).
The only bright light is Miss Honey (Embeth Davidtz), a kind
first-grade teacher who recognizes Matilda's intelligence. With Miss
Honey's support, Matilda deploys a very special talent for mischief to
turn the tables on the mean-spirited grownups. Brian Levinson, Paul
Reubens and Tracey Walter also star. From Columbia TriStar Pictures.
"Balloon Farm" (3/28/99) -- Emmy Award winner Rip Torn shines as
Harvey S. Potter, a genial if enigmatic newcomer to a drought-ravaged
farming community who grows a bumper crop of colorful balloons in his
field. At first incredulous, the townspeople come to believe the
balloons are a sign of hope in troubled times. Everyone scrambles to
buy their favorite color balloon and gets a long-overdue lift in
spirits. But grouchy old Wheezle Mayfield (Roberts Blossom) spreads
the story that Potter has swindled them all, persuading the townsfolk
to turn against Potter. Only 12-year-old Willow Johnson (Mara Wilson)
stands by her conviction that the balloons are real in this whimsical
and compelling adaptation from the acclaimed children's book by
Jerdine Nolan. Laurie Metcalf and Fredric Lane also star. A world
premiere from Vanguard Films Inc., in association with Walt Disney
Television.
"Harriet the Spy" (4/11/99) -- Harriet M. Welsch (Michelle
Tractenberg) is not your ordinary spy. Every day, disguised in her

O'Donnell) has told Harriet to write about everything if she wants to
become a famous writer. Family, neighbors, schoolmates, her best
friends Janie (Vanessa Lee Chester) and Sport (Gregory Smith) -- no
one escapes detection. But then Harriet's classmates discover her
notebook and read it aloud. The sixth-graders, including Janie and
Sport, form a spycatcher's club to outwit Harriet at her own game.
Harriet is aghast. Will this mean the end of her days as a spy?
"Harriet the Spy" is based on Louise Fitzhugh's best-selling novel,
which won the New York Times Outstanding Book Award when it was first
published in 1964. Robert Joy, J. Smith-Cameron, and Eartha Kitt also
star. From Paramount Pictures/Nickelodeon.

about Amy Alden, a 13-year-old girl who dares to attempt the
impossible and finds unexpected happiness. Following her mother's
death, Amy (Paquin) goes to live with her estranged father, Thomas
(Jeff Daniels), an artist/inventor. The disconsolate young girl one
day discovers a nest of abandoned gosling eggs. She lavishes care and
attention on the little hatchlings and becomes Mother Goose to them.
But the birds must learn how to fly so that they can migrate south for
the winter, and there are no other wild geese to teach them. With the
help of a motor-powered glider that looks like a giant goose, designed
by her father, Amy takes to the skies with her small intrepid flock on
the wing behind her for a breathtaking journey. Dana Delany, Terry
Kinney and Holter Graham also star. From Columbia Pictures.

will help save his financially troubled Medfield College. But
vengeful student Bennett Hoenicker, played by Wil Wheaton, has other

the gods on Mount Olympus. Accompanied by his beautiful winged horse
Pegasus and his teacher, a cynical satyr named Phil (voiced by Danny
DeVito), Hercules undertakes mighty deeds, meets the lovely Meg (Susan

Hades (voiced by James Woods). The suspense-filled climax brims with
excitement as Hercules learns that it takes as much heart as it does
bravery to become a true hero. Rip Torn, Samantha Eggar, Hal
Holbrook, Barbara Barrie, Bobcat Goldthwait and Matt Frewer also voice

sooner reels at the news that his daughter Annie (Kimberly Williams)
and son-in-law Bryan (George Newbern) are going to be parents, than he
is dumbstruck to learn that his adored wife Nina (Diane Keaton) is
going to have a baby, too. George is too young to be a grandfather --
and too old to even imagine being a father again. While Annie and
Nina plan an elaborate double baby shower, George decides to deliver
his own solution to this '90s-style diaper dilemma. Martin Short,
Kieran Culkin and B.D. Wong also star. From Touchstone Pictures.
