Blister Packaging Thermoformer Provides Expanded Services for Xcelience.

TAMPA, Fla. -- Xcelience, a leader in early drug development services, recently purchased a TF1 Blister Packaging Thermoformer machine. The new equipment will enable Xcelience to provide another important option for meeting the unique challenges of today's demand for manufacturing and packaging of clinical trial materials.

The TF1 Blister Packaging Thermoformer is manufactured by Micron PharmaWorks and features an 80 mm x 130 mm forming area. The agile, state-of-the-art machine is capable of producing up to 100 blisters per minute. Tooling design can be accommodated for a wide variety of dosage form shapes and sizes.

"The TF1 is extremely flexible and is ideally suited for blister packaging of clinical trial materials. It is capable of thermoforming a wide variety of pharmaceutical films as well as Cold-Form Foil. Along with the new blister packaging thermoformer, Xcelience was the first CRO to implement the patented Xcelodose([R]) 600 Precision Micro-Filling System encapsulator which fills API directly to capsules (Xcelodose is a registered trademark of Capsugel BVBA). Xcelience was also one of the first CROs to implement the new Xcelodose([R]) 600S series. As well as the recent addition of the XRD (x-ray diffraction) instrumentation which allows Xcelience to provide enhanced capabilities in pre-formulation analysis, polymorph identification, salt screen and selection, and crystallinity determination.
