BLIND and partially sighted people need more help to access benefits.

 has tabled a statement in the Senedd after learning that people with sight problems are missing out on pounds 4.5 million pounds a year because of a lack of specialised benefits advocacy services across Wales.

Four local authorities with specialist benefits advisors helped 500 people in 2008 gain thousands of pounds extra benefits. This demonstrates the need for more support services support services Psychology Non-health care-related ancillary services–eg, transportation, financial aid, support groups, homemaker services, respite services, and other services  for people with sight problems across Wales.

Mrs Mewies wants all councils to make home visiting advocates a priority.
