Blighted city block blossoms.A blighted city block that was once considered the worst residential street in Poughkeepsie is now a welcoming family neighborhood of beautifully renovated Victorian homes. Phase I included larger rental properties, while Phase II was concentrated on providing home ownership opportunities, with a total of 10 vacant buildings being renovated on the block. In the $3.7 million first phase of the project, Hudson River Housing partnered with developer Ken Kearney to completely rehabilitate three vacant buildings into 25 affordable rental units and one commercial space. The second phase involved the $2.2 million rehabilitation of historic Queen Anne Row Rowhouses into seven two-family homes. Six first-time homebuyers have taken ownership of these lovely renovated homes. Financing for this project involved a host of state, county and city agencies, as well as private lenders and not-for-profit organizations. NYS 1. Is not. See Nis. DHCR DHCR Division of Housing and Community Renewal provided approximately $2.5 million in Low Income Housing Tax Credits and approximately $1.1 million in grants. Additional funding included $679,400 in HOME funds from Dutchess County and the City of Poughkeepsie; $120,000 in Federal Home Loan Bank funds; a $350,000 grant from the New York New York, state, United States New York, Middle Atlantic state of the United States. It is bordered by Vermont, Massachusetts, Connecticut, and the Atlantic Ocean (E), New Jersey and Pennsylvania (S), Lakes Erie and Ontario and the Canadian province of State Affordable Housing Corp; a $645,000 loan from the Enterprise Social Investment Corporation; and a $300,000 loan from Hudson United Bank. The circa 1885 Queen Anne Victorian homes, which are the signature of the Garden Street block, feature mansard roofs with decorative half timbered tim·bered adj. 1. Covered with trees; wooded. 2.
