He was International Indian Chef of the Year 1999 to 2001, and won the European Ethnic Food and Drink title last year. He won the very first Hot Stuff Chef of the Year contest in 1995, and became famed for devising a 'diet' healthy curry option. The restaurant he runs with brother Ashik in Tile Hill Tile Hill is a suburb in the west of Coventry. Mr Ali says the secret to his success is in the blending of the spices, and moving Indian cuisine away from the "madras or vindaloo vin·da·loo n. pl. vin·da·loos 1.
