Blended butyl products. (Materials). Two additions to the company's butyl butyl /bu·tyl/ (bu´t'l) a hydrocarbon radical, C4H9. bu·tyl n. A hydrocarbon radical, C4H9. butyl a hydrocarbon radical, C4H9. product line are described in company literature, including blended isobutylene Noun 1. isobutylene - used also in making gasoline components butene, butylene - any of three isomeric hydrocarbons C4H8; all used in making synthetic rubbers butyl - a hydrocarbon radical (C4H9) and blended halogenated halogenated pertaining to a substance to which a halogen is added. halogenated salicylanilides see rafoxanide, clioxanide. butyl (HIIR). Manufactured to ISO (1) See ISO speed. (2) (International Organization for Standardization, Geneva, Switzerland, www.iso.ch) An organization that sets international standards, founded in 1946. The U.S. member body is ANSI. 9000 quality standards, all of the company's blended butyl products are said to be excellent for reducing part costs when blended with prime elastomers. Blended polyisobutylene is said to be produced by carefully combining selected feedstocks to achieve a uniform molecular weight, and is available in several molecular weight grades. Typical applications include sealants and adhesives, sound deadening and vibration damping, polymer modification and membranes. Blended HIIR is produced by combining feedstocks of halogenated butyl rubber to achieve a uniform Mooney and percent halogen content. Blended HIIR is said to be an excellent material choice for non-cured tapes, caulks, sound deadening, vibration damping, etc. (Goldsmith & Eggleton, 300 First St., Wadsworth, OH 44281) Circle 120 on card |
