Blame game is over as city loses Olympic bid.

New York's West Side stadium debacle left a sour taste with International Olympic Committee “IOC” redirects here. For other uses, see IOC (disambiguation).

The International Olympic Committee (French: Comité International Olympique) is an organization based in Lausanne, Switzerland, created by Pierre de Coubertin and Demetrios Vikelas on June 23

Louis J. Coletti, president of the Building Trades Employers' Association, who was part of the New York New York, state, United States

"Was it the ultimate factor in New York losing the bid to London? No," he said. "But New York should have been at worst in the third place, possibly in the second. And given the absolutely spectacular job that the New York team did in putting this job together, you never know what could have happened [if the West Side Stadium would have been approved]."

Despite dashed dreams of grandeur and lost construction jobs, local politicians have so far avoided casting blame for the bid's failure.

"I join all New Yorkers in expressing disappointment at today's announcement," said Assembly Speaker Sheldon Silver Sheldon Silver (born February 13, 1944) is a politician and member of the Democratic Party, currently serving as Speaker of New York State Assembly. Personal life

"Although our dream of playing host to the 2012 Summer Olympics may have come to an end, perhaps this experience could be the foundation for a successful bid in 2016."

It is unclear, however, whether Deputy Mayor for Economic Development Daniel L. Doctoroff Daniel L. Doctoroff (born July 11, 1958) is Deputy Mayor for Economic Development and Rebuilding for the City of New York. Under the leadership of Mayor Michael R. Bloomberg, Doctoroff has overseen one of the city’s most dramatic economic resurgences, spearheading the effort , the mastermind behind the 2012 bid, will undertake any further efforts to bring the Olympics to New York City.

According to Coletti, however, several members of the IOC IOC

encouraged New Yorkers to try again in 2016.

"We didn't have a direct conversation with Dan because it was not the appropriate time, but the sense of the delegates that were there was that they were ready to write their checks for 2016," he noted.

"We felt that not only because of the pride at how we performed, but because of the encouragement we received from members of the Olympic committee. So, at this point, all signs point in that direction."
