Latvia's economic troubles could have a negative impact on the investment climate in Bulgaria because of the similarities in the currency board agreements in the two countries, Bulgarian Finance Minister Plamen Oresharski told the Associated Press. Bulgaria was in a better position, however, because its financial system was in better health than that of Latvia since the Cabinet's fiscal policy during the recent economic boom had left Bulgaria with reliable buffers, which were warding off any risk to the currency board, Oresharski said.
