ITS NAME IS VULGAR; ITS TONE RUDE AND ITS LOOK LOW BUDGET. BUT ARGENTINE FILMMAKER Jose Luis Marques thinks a movie about a secret sex mission in the Malvinas will make him rich.

"Fuckland," showing at the London Film Festival in November (following its September premiere in Buenos Aires), takes its cue from "The Blair Witch Project." That US. horror flick cost only US$35,000 to make, but Internet marketing and a cult-like following earned it more than $140 million.

Like "Blair Witch," Marques' film simulates a documentary as it follows the mysterious Fabian S. on his quest to impregnate a Falkland female and begin a new generation of Argentines on the Malvinas. At the movies' Web site, www.fuckland.com.ar, Fabian's photos and diary pages detail the clandestine journey.

The director, who won't say how much the movie cost to make, is mum on how he managed to film on the British-controlled archipelago. Falklands Attorney General David Lang told Buenos Aires newspaper Clarin that he would have denied permission for the filming, had he been asked. Still, it's unlikely islanders will ever see the movie: their only theater is on a military base, and its films are reviewed by a censorship committee.
