Blaine attempts bullet catch.

THOUGH he is perhaps best known nowadays for his highprofile endurance stunts, David Blaine made his name performing some truly mindboggling tricks and returns to his roots for a one-off special.

Blaine chose London to perform the feat of living inside a Perspex box for 44 days, but he remained on home soil for this road trip, which sees him travelling across the United States, visiting some of the places with the highest crime and poverty rates in the country and demonstrating his spectacular tricks.

At the hurricane stricken Ninth Ward in New Orleans he turns around the fortunes of a few amazed residents by producing hundreds of dollars at their fingertips.

He then heads home to New York City, where he performs magic for A-List stars, including Hollywood actor Orlando Bloom, acclaimed musician John Mayer and 2008 Super Bowl champs the New York Giants.

David Blaine then ups the ante when he replicates the trick that took the life of his famous counterpart Harry Houdini, by taking a few devastating punches from mixed martial arts fighter and former street brawler Kimbo Slice.

And as if that wasn't enough, he undertakes one of the most famous illusions in magic; the bullet catch. He must catch a bullet fired at point blank range from a .22 calibre gun in his mouth - a stunt captured on a camera recording footage at 10,000 frames per second.
