Blackwell acquires dental titles from BC Decker.

Blackwell Publishing (Boston, MA) has acquired the "Journal of Esthetic and Restorative Dentistry," the official journal of nine dental societies around the world, and "Clinical Implant Dentistry and Related Research" from BC Decker (Hamilton, ON). No terms of the deal were given. Both journals have paid circulations.

The "Journal of Esthetic and Restorative Dentistry" is published six times a year to provide information on contemporary interdisciplinary esthetic dentistry. Content includes coverage of esthetic concepts, implants, adhesive restorations, materials and techniques, research results and innovations in esthetics. "Clinical Implant Dentistry" is produced quarterly to disseminate information related to dental implants and related sciences. Editorial covers new technologies and innovations, surfaces, computer-aided design, implant replacement, bone induction and conduction, and new surgical methods and materials.

Blackwell said the acquired titles enhance the company's current list of dental journals, including "Journal of Periodontal Research," "Journal of Prosthodontics" and "Community Dentistry and Oral Epidemiology." Blackwell said that it now publishes nine out of the top 20 dental journals ranked by impact factor and one quarter of all dental research articles.
