Celera has recently announced that the company has DNA sequence DNA sequence Genetics The precise order of bases–A,T,G,C–in a segment of DNA, gene, chromosome, or an entire genome. See Base pair, Base sequence analysis, Chromosome, Gene, Genome.  in the Celera database that covers 90 percent of the human genome The human genome is the genome of Homo sapiens, which is composed of 24 distinct pairs of chromosomes (22 autosomal + X + Y) with a total of approximately 3 billion DNA base pairs containing an estimated 20,000–25,000 genes. . Using the compute farm, Celera will be able to speed the analysis of the 3.5 billion units of information that comprise the human genome. Celera's need for speed is essential as the company races to uncover genetic information that may someday lead to novel therapies and cures for illnesses.
