) today announced that although the Company's policy is not to comment on market rumors or speculation, due to the unusual nature of certain rumors circulating in the market place and inquiries the Company has received this morning, the Company stated that it would make an exception to its normal policy.

In response to the rumors and inquiries, which relate to potential losses from CDO (Collaborative Data Objects) A programming interface from Microsoft for accessing MAPI-based e-mail, calendaring and scheduling servers. Originally called "OLE Messaging" and "Active Messaging," CDO wraps the Enhanced MAPI library into a COM object that provides the  and subprime exposure, BlackRock stated, "There is simply no truth to today's reported rumors. As the Company has previously disclosed in its SEC reports and earnings releases and calls, BlackRock has no material exposure or losses related to either subprime assets or CDO investments, whether held in the U.S. or in off-shore vehicles.
