Q I am interested in investing in stocks of minority-owned businesses and wanted to begin by reviewing some of BE 100s companies. Are any of them publicly traded? --Chemica Brown Chicago

A The majority of the nation's largest black-owned businesses that BE ranks annually are privately held. There are, however, quite a few companies on our BE INDUSTRIAL/SERVICE 100, BE BANKS, and BE ASSET MANAGERS' lists that trade publicly. These companies include Radio One Inc. (Nasdaq: ROIA), one of the nation's largest African American-owned broadcast companies as well as Carver Bancorp Carver Bancorp, Inc. is the holding company of Carver Federal Savings Bank.
