Black women more affected by domestic violence.

Domestic violence affects all Americans, regardless of race, gender, or socioeconomic status, but domestic violence by an intimate partner is the leading killer of black women ages 15-45. Each year 1.3 million women are victims of physical assault by an intimate partner, according to the National Coalition Against Domestic Violence. However, this threat has disproportionately fatal consequences for African American women who make up roughly 7% of the total U.S. population, according to the U.S. Census Bureau. Although 1 in every 4 women will experience domestic violence in her lifetime, black women experience 35% more incidents than white women.
