Black education; a transformative research "Transformative research" is a term used by the U.S. National Science Foundation (NSF). NSF's National Science Board defined transformative research as "research that has the capacity to revolutionize existing fields, create new subfields, cause paradigm shifts, support discovery, and  & action agenda for the new century.

American scholars describe the crisis in Black education in the US, in Diaspora contexts, and in Africa; and suggest transformative possibilities for addressing this crisis. Drawing on the findings and recommendations of the American Educational Research Association's Commission on Research in Black Education, they offer an alternative to hegemony hegemony (hĭjĕm`ənē, hē–, hĕj`əmō'nē, hĕg`ə–), [Gr.,=leadership], dominance, originally of one Greek city-state over others, the term has been extended to refer to the dominance of one  and mis-education.
