Black cop in racial claim against Blair; ALLEGATIONS.


BRITAIN'S chief cop was yesterday accused of "racial and religious discrimination" by the country's highest ranking black policeman.

Asst Commissioner Tarique Ghaffur Tarique Ghaffur CBE QPM (IPA: [tʌɹiːk ɡæfuːɹ])[1] is a high-ranking British police officer in London's Metropolitan Police Service. He is currently Assistant Commissioner–Central Operations.  named Met boss Sir Ian Blair Sir Ian Warwick Blair, QPM (born 19 March 1953) is Commissioner of the Metropolitan Police (head of the Metropolitan Police Service). He is not related to Tony Blair, the former British Prime Minister, despite sharing a surname.  directly when he announced that he is taking Scotland Yard to a tribunal.

Ugandan-born Mr Ghaffur, 56, was told this year by Sir Ian the plum job he expected - heading security at the 2012 Olympics - was going to Asst Commissioner Richard Bryan as his contract was not being extended that far.

A galaxy of top brass, all white and called the "golden circle" by lawyers for Mr Ghaffur, are in his grievance.

He said: "I am not seeking massive money. My case... relates to the racial and religious discrimination I have been subjected to over a long period by Sir Ian Blair."
