Walsall 'Til I Die was written by the Walsall Supporters Society as part of a national sports and literacy project, co-ordinated by the National Literacy Trust and Supporters Direct Supporters Direct is a British government initiative, funded by public money, with offices in London and Glasgow, aiming to help people "who wish to play a responsible part in the life of the football club they support". , in which fans have the chance to write about their experiences as passionate football lovers.

It will be launched at the Saddlers Club, at Banks's Stadium, at noon on Saturday, before the League One match against Northampton Town.

The stories are from supporters both young and old who attended a series of workshops.

Six hundred copies will be presented to schools to help children to improve their reading.

Walsall FC's community officer, former player Mick Kearns Michael "Mick" Kearns is a former professional footballer.

Born on 26th November 1950 in Banbury, Oxfordshire, he qualifed to play for the Republic of Ireland through his Irish ancestry and went on to represent his country 18 times.
, said: "The lifeblood of any club is its supporters.

"We have a loyal core of fans whose passion and commitment to the cause shows no bounds.

"It's a lifelong relationship that encompasses the full range of emotions.Walsall 'Til I Die celebrates this fact by showcasing the people for whom the Saddlers form a big part of their lives."

Walsall Supporters Society's Neil Ravenscroft, said: "Walsall 'Til I Die tells of the elation elation /ela·tion/ (e-la´shun) emotional excitement marked by acceleration of mental and bodily activity, with extreme joy and an overly optimistic attitude.  and the despair of the ordinary fans of the Saddlers, the people who sustain this club and support us through thick and thin.

"What is fantastic is the way different organisations, local and national, have come together to produce something unique. Football is a powerful motivator, which has enabled to us to bring education and sport together in a fun way."
