The Bozeman, Montana archery firm you may have known as "Montana Black Gold" has changed its handle to Black Gold (Premium Bowsights), but the high-quality products customers have come to expect from them--such as benchmark Grand Slam sights--remain intact. Trap Door, and more recently Mach 4, arrow rests from "Montana Black Gold" have been relegated to a separate entity under the title FreeFall Rest. Both names have become highly respected in the industry for foolproof designs that make set up and tuning easy. FlashPoint PhotoChromatic

Last year the Skylight bow sight debuted Black Gold's revolutionary SkyCoil technology, a system that stacks the fiber-optic coils backing each aiming point on the top of the sight housing where they can gather more light. The design proves exceptionally bright in low light situations and gained instant fans East and West. They also provide exceptional protection from damage while in the field. Black Gold claims SkyCoil-backed pins are 300-percent more efficient at gathering and transferring light than other wrapped-fiber systems. The system proved so bright, in fact, that many customers suggested that the pins were too bright during midday hours. To that end Black Gold introduces the FlashPoint PhotoChromatic Bowsight.

The FlashPoint uses a European-made photo chromatic fiber-coil shell or protective lens that automatically regulates pin brightness based on available light. Maybe you have owned or seen eye glasses that remain clear when indoors or during dark hours, but transform into sunglasses when worn in bright sunshine. The concept is the same, the FlashPoint shell turning completely clear in low light, allowing maximum light to reach the fiber material and create brighter aiming points, but shading to purple in bright light so aiming points do not become overbearing. Windage and elevation marks make sight-in fast, while a built-in level and round, white-accented pin-guard assure accurate shooting.

Radiant Sight

The new Radiant also includes super-bright SkyCoil Technology, but is fitted with an extruded windage bar and base to make it lighter, as well as affordable. This sight gives you maximum pin brightness, highly-protected, fully-enclosed fibers, four narrow-throated, standard .030-inch diameter Skylight pins, built-in level and a bright- white aperture outline. The windage and elevation hash marks and machined-aluminum direct-mount extension bar of other Black Gold sights remain standard.

A Better Dusk Devil

The new Dusk Devil Ultimate incorporates the popular and highly-effective StraightAway pins in a refined design that includes a new built-in level, and a smaller all-metal pin guard equipped with a bright-white aperture ring. The all-metal sight still includes a pivoting third axis system so you see only pin points while at full draw and not blade surfaces. Add windage and elevation calibration marks and low-light peep-alignment fiber points about the aperture ring to these features. Four- or five-pin models are offered. The Dusk Devil Ultimate Hunter includes all of these features, but eliminates the pivoting third axis feature to allow for a more compact, no-frills platform tree stand sight hunters should find appealing.

Quest For Simplicity

Fans of the rock-solid, no-nonsense Grand Slam sights of the past should take an instant shine to the all-new Quest. This represents a major polish of earlier models, giving you accuracy-improving features such as four tough, narrow-throated pins that block less target area, incorporated level, and round, all-metal pin guard with bright-white peep-alignment aperture ring. The Quest still includes a compact, lightweight base, horizontal and vertical laser-engraved hash marks and your choice of standard or micro pins.

PhotoChromatic Kits can be ordered to upgrade last year's Skylight or the new Radiant. All Black Gold sights are also easily equipped with an ultra-high-output Gallium Nitrate crystal diode Sight Light for low-light shooting, which includes adjustable brightness.

FreeFall Arrow Rests

The FreeFall is the latest incarnation of an ever-improving line of recoil-activated fall-away arrows rests once found exclusively in Trap Door rests, and Mach 4 models that followed. It's a design that needs no activation strings or cord/cable to operate, mere ounces of bow recoil causing the forked rest arm to fall away instantly. The design proves highly reliable, ultra quiet, and extremely simple to install and set up. Recoil Activated Technology incorporates an internal pendulum that releases the cocked rest arm only after you release the bow string for a shot. FreeFall's launcher arm cocks into the ready position prior to the shot, assuring your arrow will not jump off the rest while drawing and drops when you release the string. The FreeFall is installed with a single bolt and is instantly ready to shoot and tune. Full-range tuning adjustment are simple and trouble free.
