Black Country News: Students in the pink to help cancer sufferers; WALSALL.


STUDENTS at a college were encouraged to think pink to help raise money for charity.

 day of activities last Thursday for Break Through Breast Cancer and Walsall Breast Cancer.

Hair and beauty students gave people pink hair extensions, pink nails and pink make-up, in return for donations.

The college's Graduate Salon Salon, annual exhibition of art works chosen by jury and presented by the French Academy since 1737; it was originally held in the Salon d'Apollon of the Louvre. By the mid-19th cent. the Salon had become an expression of conservative, established tastes in art.  of Hair & Beauty also be held a raffle.

Other activities included pink mendhi, cake stalls and wearing pink to raise cash for the charity.

Earlier in the month, Walsall College Academy Health Club manager Rayna Jones raised over pounds 700 for Breast Cancer Awareness by completing the Great North Run in two hours four minutes.

Helen Griffiths, youth engagement officer for Walsall College, said: "Support from students has been fantastic.

"Breast Cancer charities are close to the hearts of many people and it is great to see students using the talents they have acquired to help save lives."
