CRICKET: Opener Tim McIntosh Timothy Gavin McIntosh (b. 4 December, 1979) in Auckland. He is a New Zealand cricketer who plays for the Auckland Aces and has scored over 3,000 first-class runs with a highest score of 205. He had one unsuccessful season for the Canterbury Wizards averaging only 4.90.  cracked an unbeaten halfcentury to continue New Zealand's fightback on day three of the First Test against Sri Lanka in Galle today.

The start of play was again delayed by a heavy downpour and when the covers eventually came off McIntosh impressed.

The left-handed batsman played cautiously, surviving a vicious short-ball attack from fast bowler Thilan Thushara - he needed medical attention for a rap on the back and took another blow on his helmet - before going on to reach his 50.

McIntosh was unbeaten on 53 and with him was Ross Taylor on six.
