Black Box Corporation Announces Acquisition of Comunicaciones SA Spain - Previously a Joint Venture with Payma Comunicaciones SA Spain -.

PITTSBURGH--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Sept. 30, 1999--

Black Box Corporation (Nasdaq:BBOX) today announced it had acquired 100% of the shares of Comunicaciones SA Spain. Comunicaciones SA was established in 1989 in Madrid, Spain as a joint venture between Black Box Corporation and Payma Comunicaciones SA Spain. Annual revenues of Comunicaciones SA approximate $3 million.

Commenting on the merger, Fred C. Young, Chief Executive Officer of Black Box Corporation, stated, "We are very excited at the prospect of expanding our technical services and revenues in the growing Spanish market place. Comunicaciones SA has built a strong customer reputation as an excellent provider of technical support services. With increasing Black Box presence in other Spanish-oriented Latin American countries, we also now have the opportunity to leverage our Spanish language direct marketing programs."

The new company will trade under the name Black Box Spain. Leslie M. Fernandes, previously Sales and Marketing Director of Black Box United Kingdom, has been promoted to General Manager - Black Box Spain. Mr. Fernandes will relocate to Madrid, Spain in the near future and continue to report to Roger Croft, Vice President - European and Latin American Operations.

This transaction is being accounted for as a purchase. The purchase price has not been disclosed.
