Black & Veatch Expanding Global Offices Due to Growth across Company Business Lines.

KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- Growth across Black & Veatch's global business lines has resulted in the expansion of more than 30 offices worldwide. The company's total employment grew 20 percent in 2006 to 8,500 professionals. In the Kansas City area, employment increased approximately 10 percent to 3,600 professionals in 2006.

Staff count has increased by 110 professionals, to more than 500, during the past year at the company's 8400 Ward Parkway Ward Parkway, located in Kansas City, Missouri near the Kansas-Missouri state line, is one of the most well-known boulevards in the Midwest. Ward Parkway begins at Brookside Boulevard on the eastern edge of the Country Club Plaza and continues westward along Brush Creek as U.S.  location in Kansas City, home to the company's water business. Black & Veatch also has entered into a lease agreement for 19,000-square-feet of additional office space at an adjacent building, at 8330 Ward Parkway, to accommodate more than 75 new professionals in the company's rapidly expanding water business.

In early 2007, Black & Veatch plans to move 160 telecommunications professionals from its 11401 Lamar Avenue location to the Corporate Woods complex in Overland Park Overland Park, city (1990 pop. 111,790), Johnson co., NE Kans., a residential suburb of Kansas City; inc. 1960. There is printing and publishing, and the manufacture of apparel, aircraft parts, cement, prepared foods, salt, chemicals, marine accessories, and signs. , Kan. The move will provide additional office space to accommodate growth of the company's telecommunications division.

The company's 8400 Ward Parkway location recently completed a $2.9 million renovation that features expanded conference and training rooms, informal meeting areas, an open floor plan and the first corporate rain garden in Kansas City. The upgrade also includes the installation of advanced communications equipment and contemporary interior design features that create an innovative workspace for professionals in its water business. Following the renovation, more than 30 professionals from the company's water business transferred back to the building after working from the company's Lamar Avenue location.

Additionally, Black & Veatch recently added nine new locations and 900 new professionals in the UK as the result of an acquisition in its water business that doubled the size of the company's UK water operations. Excluding that acquisition, Black & Veatch's global water business had a staff count increase of 7.5 percent in 2006.
