Bitstream Releases Its First Set of Fonts from the New Font Collection Program; First Release Includes 17 New, Exclusive Fonts From Designers Holly Goldsmith and John Downer.

The new release features exclusive display fonts from Holly Goldsmith and a complete expert font An expert font, also known as an expert set, is a digital font, accompanying another font, that provides additional characters that are not in the accompanied font, such as small caps, old style figures, ligatures, fractions, subscript and superscript figures.  set from John Downer Sir John William Downer, KCMG (6 July 1843 – 2 August 1915) was the Premier of South Australia from 16 June 1885 until 11 June 1887 and again from 1892 to 1893. On August 8 of this year, Bitstream announced the New Font Collection (NFC NFC

) program. The current Bitstream Typeface Library has been a mainstay of the graphic design community for many years. Bitstream felt the time had come to begin a new collection of typefaces, not only to add fonts to the library but, more importantly, to seek out designs from new school and established designers alike. To that end, Bitstream established the NFC.

Holly Goldsmith has designed a series of five handwriting typefaces exclusively for Bitstream:

--Hank(TM)

--Liorah(TM)

--Melanie(TM)

--Missy(TM)

--Ryan(TM)

All of Ms. Goldsmith's typefaces are display faces. They are named after her daughters, niece, and nephews. The typefaces vary from the elegant look of Liorah to the handwritten hand·write

Bitstream(R) Iowan Old Style(TM), including the entire set of expert characters, was completed by John Downer in 1990. Bitstream published the family, without the expert sets, in 1991. As of today, Bitstream Iowan Old Style gives graphic designers a complete and expert set of fonts that include small caps See Small capital , old style figures, ligatures, alternate characters, and ornaments.
