Bitstream Releases Font Fusion 2.5, the Leading Font Rendering Solution for Digital Television.


CAMBRIDGE, Mass. -- Update Enhances Support for Text Composition with Simultaneous Release of Bitstream Panorama

Bitstream Inc. (Nasdaq:BITS) announced today the release of Font Fusion Bitstream Font Fusion is a small, fast, object-oriented font engine written in ANSI C capable of rendering high-quality text on any platform, any device, and at any resolution. The entire source code is portable, optimized, and executes independent of operating system and processor. (R) 2.5, the company's smallest, most advanced font rasterizing rasterizing - rasterising  engine, and the fastest font engine on the market today.

--Easier control of configurable compile-time options

--New functionality for modifying color tables

--Improved stroke-based font output

About Font Fusion

Font Fusion(R) is a small, fast, portable, memory-efficient font rendering engine for consumer electronics devices, PDAs, mobile phones, set-top boxes, graphics applications and embedded systems. Together with Bitstream Panorama(TM), it provides a complete font rendering and text composition solution.

Font Fusion provides developers with full font fidelity and high-quality typographic output at any resolution on any device. Most developers can compile the source code in 32-105 KB, depending on features enabled. It generates more than 37,000 characters per second, rendering a TrueType font at 25 lines per em on a 450 MHz (MegaHertZ) One million cycles per second. It is used to measure the transmission speed of electronic devices, including channels, buses and the computer's internal clock. A one-megahertz clock (1 MHz) means some number of bits (16, 32, 64, etc.  Pentium II processor.
