BitDefender Highlights HiVE Heuristic Detection at InfoSec Orlando; 56% more viruses blocked through HiVE than from standard signature-based antivirus systems.

FORT LAUDERDALE & ORLANDO, Fla. -- At InfoSec Orlando (Booth #201), BitDefender(R), an award-winning provider of antivirus software and data security solutions, will be showing its latest antivirus and Internet security suite of products and highlighting the HiVE (Heuristics in Virtual Environment) heuristics detection.

BitDefender's HiVE has already made significant impact in 2006, allowing BitDefender to isolate and quickly develop fixes for viruses that have not yet been detected in the wild without relying on outdated virus signatures as the only form of detection. HiVE helped BitDefender block 56 percent more viruses than signature-based antivirus systems, allowed BitDefender to significantly lower reaction time to the two most publicized major viruses breakouts in January 2006 - WMF and Kama Sutra - and has allowed BitDefender to stay ahead of the most damaging Internet security malware and trends, including all six variants of the Zotob virus.

Virus writers and criminal organizations are in a constant battle with antivirus vendors and have developed a number of ways to hide viruses and other malware from pure signature driven antivirus protection.
