He became a cardinal on February 21, 1998. Ambrozic was born in Gabrje, Slovenia as Alojzij Ambrožič. has been asked by the Holy Father to remain in his post after he reaches the mandatory retirement A mandatory retirement age is the age at which persons who hold certain jobs or offices are required by statute to step down, or retire.
