Bishop Announces Results from Orientation at Gordon Lake, NWT.

VANCOUVER, B.C.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Nov. 6, 1996--BISHOP RESOURCES INC (Alberta Stock Exchange BRI.) Bishop Resources Inc. (BRI.ASE) is pleased to announce the results of a two stage Staking and Geological Orientation program recently completed on Bishop's 100 percent interest Crown Mining Leases located in the Gordon Lake area approximately 80 km. north-northeast of Yellowknife, NWT.

The recently staked and recorded BRI 1-6 mineral claims bring Bishop's net holdings in this area to approximately 8,264 acres in one contiguous block. The claims were staked to cover both the extensions of the No.1 deposit and also additional gold showings (several of which have produced mineralized drill intersections) elsewhere on the property.

Two property examinations were undertaken during the summer and fall of 1996 by Arnex Resources Ltd., an independent geological engineering consulting firm retained by Bishop. A limited amount of rock chip sampling was done in the field. Best results include 1.77 oz / ton of gold over a 7 foot core length in a sample from diamond drill hole DDH 85I-06. As part of the geological program, selected historic drill collars at the No.1 Zone and at the T2 showing were marked as reference points in the field to assist in locating winter drill sites.

Compilation of data and field examinations by Arnex has resulted in the identification of attractive exploration features at Gordon Lake:

"The No.1 Zone is open at depth and because of the postulated continuity of grade down the controlling fold hinge plunge, deep drilling is warranted. Based on ore deposit geometry, a cheap bulk tonnage underground mining technique might be employed if sufficient reserves could be outlined.

At the No.1 Zone and elsewhere, there appears to be a stratigraphic control to the Au mineralization. The best concentrations are where quartz veins are hosted in the turbidite siltstone sequence. Preliminary evidence suggests that the siltstones are auiferous and are the source for the vein hosted mineralization. A high enough gold concentration within the turbidites might allow bulk mining of the high grade veins as well as the lower grade "wallrock" siltstones as open pittable deposits.

Two high grade drill intersections of approximately 0.4 oz/ton over 8 foot intervals at the T2 area on the Lynx area remain untested at depth and deeper drilling on section is warranted.

At the Wooferine showing on strike from the T2 occurrence, a drill intersection of 4.4 feet of 1.69 oz / ton was reported from a prior 1995 drilling result and provides another follow up drill target.

It has been concluded that drilling deep targets under the No. 1 Zone and under drill intersections on the T2 showing is warranted."

During the period from 1982 to 1988, the previous claims owner undertook exploration work on portions of the Gordon Lake property valued at over $5,000,000. consisting of more than 12,000 metres of drilling and 1,000 metres of underground development work.

A geological resource was established which would justify a small scale high grade underground and surface open pit winter mining operation (assuming certain defined cost and gold price parameters) with high grade ore being shipped by winter road to Yellowknife for custom milling.

The objective of additional deep drilling proposed for this winter is to increase the geological resource of the property to achieve the status of a stand alone operation supporting its own mill.
