Birtcher launches new commercial development group, executive vice president named; Birtcher family returns to commercial development with 100 percent-owned company.

LAGUNA Laguna (ləg`nə), pueblo, Valencia co., central N.Mex.; established on its present site 1699.  NIGUEL, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--May 20, 1996--A new entity, Birtcher Commercial Development Group, has been formed to handle commercial and industrial development for the family-owned Birtcher Enterprises.

Real estate veteran Richard C. Lutzky has been named executive vice president to lead the Group.

The announcement was made by the family's co-chairman, Brandon Birtcher, a third-generation member of the real estate business started by his grandfather more than 50 years ago.

The formation of the new group represents a return of the Birtchers to a 100 percent family-owned company involved in commercial development, which is in effect a return to their roots.

Fayette Birtcher, grandfather of Brandon and founder of the family business, was a pioneer in the tilt-up construction industry. Over the years, Birtcher companies developed, built and sold approximately 50 million square feet of industrial, commercial, retail, mixed-use and residential properties.

levels in office and industrial space disappear, as we moved through the recession," said Lutzky, after the announcement of the formation of the new group. "With growth returning to many western U.S. markets, tenants have few existing options to satisfy their space requirements," he said.

The Group's formation is also in response to the request of many of Birtcher's Asian investor clients to participate in commercial development projects throughout the Western United States Noun 1. western United States - the region of the United States lying to the west of the Mississippi River

"Birtcher Commercial Development Group intends to identify, plan and develop properties which meet the requirements of today's growth industries," Lutzky said.

The new group already has two major construction projects in California California (kăl'ĭfôr`nyə), most populous state in the United States, located in the Far West; bordered by Oregon (N), Nevada and, across the Colorado River, Arizona (E), Mexico (S), and the Pacific Ocean (W). , Oregon Oregon, city, United States

In Oregon, expansion is under way at AmberGlen Business Center, a 217-acre business park located in the Sunset Corridor, west of Portland, which includes tenants such as Nike, Intel, Nautilus nautilus, in zoology

The firm also will be involved in co-developing and leasing a 150,000-square-foot retail center in Laguna Niguel, Birtcher said.

The appointment of Lutzky to head the new construction arm marks his return to the Birtcher family operation. He joined the firm in 1986 and continued to work as a principal for Birtcher Real Estate Services, which recently was renamed MBK MBK Multiple Beam Klystron

During Lutzky's career with Birtcher, he was named the youngest principal in the history of the firm, in part based upon his success at developing and marketing the 1 million-square-foot Centerpointe project in La Palma La Pal·ma
