A small slender woolly annual (Lasthenia chrysostoma) with very narrow opposite leaves and branches bearing solitary golden-yellow flower heads; it grows from Southwestern Oregon to Baja California and Arizona; - it is often cultivated. Inc. is pleased to report preliminary gold assays from trenching completed at Opon gold prospect, located in the southern portion of the Dunkwa property in Ghana, West Africa West Africa A region of western Africa between the Sahara Desert and the Gulf of Guinea. It was largely controlled by colonial powers until the 20th century. West African adj. & n. . The 230 sq. km. Dunkwa property, under option to Battle Mountain Gold Company, the operator, extends 45 kilometers along the Ashanti Gold Belt and lies between the Ashanti Goldfields gold deposits at Obuasi (850,000 oz/yr) to the north and Gencor's Bogosu deposits (100,000 oz/yr), to the south. To date, a 152-meter-long trench has been dug in saprolite sap·ro·lite n. The average gold value over the entire length of the trench is 1.43 grams gold per tonne with grades as high as 6.2 g/t Au over an 8- meter width. The higher grade sections of the trench appear to be related to a quartz stockwork within phyllites.
