Inc. is pleased to report that the diamond drilling Diamond Drilling is a highly specialized industry used for mineral exploration around the world. Most commonly using wireline and core bits with diamond encrusted matrix. To drill holes to max depths of twelve thousand feet, for the recovery of core used in verifying mineral program carried out in the vicinity of the former Akrokeri Mine (90 percent-owned by Birim) was successful in establishing the continuity of the gold-bearing structure. Six exploratory holes, the first in 60 years, were drilled below the old mine workings with the objective of determining the persistence and geometry of the graphitic quartz-sulphide shear zone, which hosted the former Akrokeri Mine that produced, between 1905-1909, 75,000 ounces of gold from 104,000 tons of high-grade ore. The diamond drill holes were positioned so as to intersect the structure under the former mine workings at about 130 meters from surface or roughly 40 meters below the lowermost mine level. The sequence of the drill pattern, from south to north, was ABD-4, ABD-5, ABD-3, ABD-6 and ABD-2 (same section) and ABD-8, all at 200-m intervals. Data obtained from this first phase strongly suggests that the Akrokeri structure plunges to the north at a shallow angle with pinching and swelling, much like the neighbouring Ashanti structures. There is also a strong indication that the structure is not a north-south linear feature, as anticipated, but is rather arcuate arcuate /ar·cu·ate/ (ahr´ku-at) arc-shaped; arranged in arches. ar·cu·ate adj. Coming or being from the northwest. north·west direction. Birim will use this data to plan the next drilling phase, scheduled to begin in the new year. In spite of the fact that this drilling program was exploratory, an intersection of 24.8 g/t Au over 0.5 meters was obtained in hole ABD-3, confirming the high-grade potential of the Akrokeri licence area. Meanwhile, the soil sampling program, covering the 48 sq. km. concession and currently being carried out by a crew of 25, is 70 percent completed. Preliminary results are encouraging as gold-in-soil anomalies are already taking shape.
