Birim Goldfields Inc. increases reserves in Ghana.

MONTREAL, Quebec--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Sept. 28, 1995--BIRIM GOLDFIELDS INC.(CANADIAN DEALING NETWORK:BIRM BIRM.WT) Birim Goldfields Inc. is pleased to announce a significant increase in reserves on the Aboronye portion of the Aboronye-Mampon property. This is a result of a systematic re-sampling and assaying of drill-core from previous drilling done by BHP in 1989.

A total of 350 samples were taken from 5 diamond drill holes. Compilation and interpretation of the results have permitted the identification of three distinct mineralized zones contained in a dilated shear zone measuring about 500 metres in length and attaining a maximum width of approximately 60 metres.

A revised calculation of the total oxide and sulphide resource shows a 35 percent increase in tonnage and a 25 percent increase in grade. The present reserve is stated at 2.5 million tonnes grading 1.64 grams Au per tonne.

Since all three mineralized zones are open along strike and at depth, further diamond drilling will be required to test the continuity and extent of the whole mineralized structure. As previously announced, the follow-up drilling program is slated to begin in early November.

These results are considered to be of particular importance in view of the on-going reverse-circulation (RC) drilling program currently conducted on the adjacent Mampon prospect where a larger resource is indicated. Results from this latter program are expected shortly. A total of 8 RC holes have been drilled to date and are presently being assayed.

Birim's short term objective is to define a minimum oxide ore reserve of the order of 6 million tonnes suitable for heap leaching. Birim's common shares and series "B" warrants trade on the Canadian Dealing Network (CDN), Canada's national over-the counter market, under the symbols BIRM and BIRM.WT.
