Most commonly using wireline and core bits with diamond encrusted matrix. To drill holes to max depths of twelve thousand feet, for the recovery of core used in verifying mineral on the Mampon gold deposit, located on the Dunkwa property in Ghana, West Africa West Africa A region of western Africa between the Sahara Desert and the Gulf of Guinea. It was largely controlled by colonial powers until the 20th century. West African adj. & n. . Battle Mountain Gold Company is the operator of the project and has the option of acquiring a 65 percent interest in the property through a work commitment agreement. Results have been returned for holes BMD-20 through BMD-23, representing a total of 839.6 meters. Of these four holes, BMD-20, BMD-21 and BMD-23 were aimed at testing the main structure hosting the Mampon deposit, with the other hole testing a near-surface target as a follow-up to detailed soil sampling to the south of the main mineralization Mineralization The process by which the body uses minerals to build bone structure. Mentioned in: Rickets mineralization, n the bioprecipitation of an inorganic substance. . Drill hole BMD-23 returned 10.97 Au g/t (0.32 oz Au/short ton) over a 7.68-meter interval (25.2 ft), from 315.60-323.28 meters (1,035.4-1,060.6 ft). This intercept intercept in mathematical terms the points at which a curve cuts the two axes of a graph. is located 80 meters below BMD-15, reported on April 28 and which returned 9.23 g/t Au over 16.3 meters (0.27 oz Au/short ton over 53.5 ft). This intersection extends the depth of the Mampon mineralized min·er·al·ize v. min·er·al·ized, min·er·al·iz·ing, min·er·al·iz·es v.tr. 1. To convert to a mineral substance; petrify. 2. It is useful to bear in mind that Mampon shares similar characteristics with other gold deposits located along the Ashanti Structural Belt, namely Ashanti (mining depth: 1,600 meters), Prestea (mining depth: 1,800 meters) and Konongo (mining depth: 900 meters). All of these deposits are also lenticular lenticular /len·tic·u·lar/ (len-tik´u-ler) 1. pertaining to or shaped like a lens. 2. pertaining to the lens of the eye. 3. pertaining to the lenticular nucleus. in shape and exhibit pinching and swelling, as observed at Mampon. Hole BMD-21, drilled to test for down-dip extension of mineralization at the south end of the Main Mampon structure, reported a 2.41-meter interval (8.0 ft) grading 7.5 g/t Au (0.22 oz Au/short ton) within a larger envelope of 10.9 meters grading 1.92 g/t Au (0.056 oz Au/short ton over 35.7 ft). In addition, several gold values up-hole are reminiscent of the multiple intercepts obtained in BMD-2, drilled in 1996. Birim believes that this may develop in the discovery of another mineralized zone, developed parallel to the main lens. All assays were performed at SGS SGS Société Générale de Surveillance SGS Symantec Gateway Security (appliance) SGS School of Graduate Studies SGS Subgrid Scale SGS Singapore Government Securities SGS Shell Global Solutions Laboratories in Ghana. The next set of three diamond drill holes, to begin next week, are designed to test potential size and continuity of the mineralization intersected by holes BMD-15 and BMD-23. This represents about 1,200 meters of drilling (4,000 ft). The initial diamond drilling campaign, conducted in late 1995-early 1996, indicated an independently calculated resource of 460,000 ounces of gold averaging 5.2 g/t Au. The deepest intersection, at that time, was reported from a vertical depth of 150 meters, the known zone then extending 400 meters along strike with true widths reaching 60meters. The mineralization has since been extended down to a vertical depth of 325 meters. The 230 sq.km Dunkwa prospecting license spans 45 km along the Ashanti Gold Belt. To date, more than a dozen gold prospects have been identified, the Mampon, so far, being the most promising for hosting an economical gold deposit. More than 80 workers, including 5 geologists, are involved on the property. Birim Goldfields Inc. is an emerging mining exploration firm whose mission is to explore and develop gold deposits in Ghana, West Africa. The Company currently has 17,564,045 common shares outstanding and a cash position of Can $2.2 million.
