Birim Goldfields Announces Three Significant Gold Anomalies on Dunkwa Property in Ghana.

MONTREAL, QUEBEC--(BUSINESS WIRE)--FEBRUARY 26, 1996--BIRIM GOLDFIELDS INC.(CANADIAN DEALING NETWORK: BIRM ) Birim Goldfields Inc. is pleased to report the discovery of three important gold anomalies on the Dunkwa property as a result of an on-going reconnaissance sampling programme consisting of 5,000 samples.

Of special significance is the fact that one of these anomalies, the Mansiso Anomaly, located between the Adukrom and Aniamote gold prospects, extends over 2.6 kilometres on three lines spaced 800 metres apart. Furthermore, this anomaly remains open to the south, towards Aniamote and, like the two other anomalies, has coincident arsenic, antimony and rubidium anomalous values. Gold values vary between 50 - 1,000 ppb. In addition, all three anomalies occur along the major structural break which runs down the entire length of the property as shown by the interpretation of the geophysical data.

The remaining results from the sampling south of the Mansiso Anomaly are expected within the next three weeks, but already, follow-up programmes on all three anomalies are under way. This will entail collecting, at 25-metre intervals along lines spaced 200 metres apart, a total of 2,200 additional soil samples.

Diamond drilling of the Mampon Discovery continues at a rapid pace and Birim expects to release assay results from holes 4 through 12 in the second week of March. Once all results have been received, diamond drilling of the neighboring Aboronye gold prospect will begin and will consist of, initially, six holes totaling 1,600 metres.

Under an agreement signed on June 1,1995, Hemlo Gold Mines Inc. has the right to earn a 65 percent interest in the Dunkwa property by spending CDN$7,000,000 over a period of four years. Birim is the initial operator and has the option of being carried to full feasibility.
