Birch Brothers Southern is moving into its 127th year in business with the launch of two new machine products and expanded service offerings. First, Birch has developed a compression winding machine for highloft nonwoven materials. This machine achieves compression of material thickness prior to the winding process and maintains compression throughout the cycle allowing significantly smaller and more consistent package rolls for highloft goods. The winder has automatic roll start, cut, wrap and doff capabilities included for operational safety and efficiency. Most importantly, this winding method eliminates the need for secondary vacuum or mechanical compression processes for roll packaging. By reducing costly process steps, this winder design is a benefit to the producer. It is also a boon to customers because it offers relief from wrinkled or loose roll packages that often pose quality and processing issues.
