Birbraer's 11th-hour arrival provides timely lift for Devils.

CARDIFF Devils The Cardiff Devils are a British Ice Hockey club from Cardiff, Wales who are members of the Elite Ice Hockey League. The team currently plays in the temporary Cardiff Bay Ice Rink.  have been given a boost ahead of the new ice hockey ice hockey: see hockey, ice.

Game played on an ice rink by two teams of six players on skates. The object is to drive a puck (a small, hard rubber disk) into the opponents' goal with a hockey stick, thus scoring one point.
 season with Max Birbraer Maxim "Max" Birbraer (born December 15, 1980, in Ust-Kamenogorsk, Kazakhstan) is a professional ice hockey player. He was the first Israeli national ever to be drafted by a NHL team.  granted a visa.

And Birbraer will make a rapid transfer from a flight to take his place on the ice in the Devils' challenge match against Coventry Blaze at the Cardiff Bay Arena tonight (7pm).

He follows Mike Hartwick, Mark Smith and Wes Jarvis, who all flew in yesterday, to complete a busy few days for player-coach Gerad Adams.

"Things have been hectic, but the things are moving quickly now," said Adams.

"We are working hour to hour and we will have seven of our import players in for the match against Coventry. The three remaining players will be in next week."

Americans Jay Latulippe and Scott Romfo, plus Tyler Michel are the three players who won't be in the team against Coventry this evening, but Adams says: "We have a strong British contingent and they will be given the chance to show what they can do.

"Local lads Ben Davies and Jamie Hayes have both done well in training and will be in the team against Blaze."

The Devils follow tonight's home clash with Coventry by playing the same opposition at their Skydome home next Tuesday.
