:BVF.TO) announced today that the Company will be added to the TSE 35 Index effective after the close of business Thursday, May 10, 2001. The TSE 35 Index is comprised of many of Canada's premier companies. Biovail has been assigned a relative weight of 2,700 shares reflecting a weighting in the TSE 35 Index in excess of 5%.

Since November 1999, Biovail has also been included in the consumer sector of the TSE 100 Index.

Biovail Corporation is an international full-service pharmaceutical company, engaged in the formulation, clinical testing, registration, manufacture, sale and promotion of pharmaceutical products utilizing advanced drug delivery technologies.
