Genesis Genomics Inc., a Thunder Bay-based biotechnology firm, will be one of a select few companies to be interviewed by Industry Canada Industry Canada is the department of the Government of Canada with responsibility for regional economic development, investment, and innovation/research and development. The department employs 6104 FTEs across Canada.  in order to gain a more in-depth understanding of how private-sector companies innovate. The company does research on DNA DNA: see nucleic acid.

Genesis Genomics is one of 12 to 15 innovative companies from across Canada Across Canada was an afternoon program that formerly aired on The Weather Network. The segment ran from early 1999 until mid 2002. The show ran from 3:00PM ET until 7:00 PM ET.  to be interviewed by Industry Canada as part of the consultation process leading to the national Innovation Summit in November 2002. The interviews are intended to help Industry Canada gain a better understanding on how these companies innovate, the barriers they encounter and how they overcome the barriers. The results of the interviews will be summarized in a report to be released at the Innovation Summit.
