The opening plenary session will feature a discussion of how advanced biofuels will reduce climate change emissions. Chris Somerville, director of the Energy Biosciences Institute The Energy Biosciences Institute (EBI), formally announced on February 1, 2007, is an organization that will pursue research "to develop new sources of energy and reduce the impact of energy consumption on the environment.  at the University of California The University of California has a combined student body of more than 191,000 students, over 1,340,000 living alumni, and a combined systemwide and campus endowment of just over $7.3 billion (8th largest in the United States).  Berkeley, will discuss the institute's program of research into advanced, low-carbon biofuels. Don O'Connor, president of (S&T)U Consultants Inc., will discuss bioenergy activity in Canada.
