Biosyntech's BST-Cargel Subject of Prestigious Publication: Study Shows Superior Cartilage Repair With BST-Cargel.

LAVAL, Quebec -- BioSyntech, Inc. ("BioSyntech" or the "Company") (TSX VENTURE:BSY) announced today that BST-CarGel is the subject of a study published in The Journal of Bone and Joint Surgery (JBJS JBJS Journal of Bone and Joint Surgery , American Volume). The paper, entitled "Chitosan-Glycerol Phosphate/Blood Implants Improve Hyaline Cartilage Repair in Ovine ovine

pertaining to, characteristic of, or derived from sheep.

ovine atopic dermatitis
symmetrical erythema, alopecia, lichenification, excoriation on woolless areas; sporadic cases, recur each summer.
Microfracture Defects" appears in the December issue (2005;87:2671-2686) of JBJS Am, which is widely acknowledged as the most highly regarded clinical orthopaedic journal.

The study describes the ability of BST-CarGel to repair damaged cartilage in the knees of sheep. "Detailed animal studies such as ours are extremely valuable because they permit in-depth scientific assessments of both the quality of the repair and its underlying mechanisms, information that is very difficult to obtain in human studies," said Dr. Caroline Hoemann, a senior researcher in the Department of Chemical Engineering and Institute of Biomedical Engineering at Ecole Polytechnique of Montreal, and the first author of the paper. "BST-CarGel demonstrated statistically superior cartilage repair compared to the control, due to novel mechanisms which have not been previously observed."

In addition to this publication, two presentations at the upcoming 6th Symposium of the International Cartilage Repair Society (ICRS ICRS International Celestial Reference System
ICRS International Cartilage Repair Society
ICRS International Cannabinoid Research Society
ICRS International Coral Reef Symposium
ICRS Instituts Canadiens de Recherche en Santé
) held during January 8-11, 2006, will describe recent work completed with BST-CarGel, and will be given by Dr. Hoemann as well as Dr. Michael Buschmann, also of Ecole Polytechnique. This year, Dr. Buschmann is a symposium invitee An individual who enters another's premises as a result of an express or implied invitation of the owner or occupant for their mutual gain or benefit.

serving as both a keynote lecturer and a presenter at the Cartilage Repair Think Tank sponsored by the American Orthopaedic Society for Sports Medicine, which will convene prior to the symposium.

BST-CarGel is currently being tested in a multicenter, randomized clinical trial randomized clinical trial,
n a clinical study where volunteer participants with comparable characteristics are randomly assigned to different test groups to compare the efficacy of therapies.
