Biosciences to invest US$42 million.Biosciences is investing US$42 million in a new manufacturing facility in Cayey Cayey (kīā`), town (1990 pop. 46,553), SE Puerto Rico, in the Sierra de Cayey Mts. It is a sugar, tobacco, and poultry center and a summer resort. Cigars and clothing are manufactured. Founded in 1774, it is the seat of Cayey Univ. , reports Caribbean Business (Oct. 25, 2007). The new 40,000-sq ft plant will create more than 70 new jobs and produce between 300 and 400 environment research products, said plant manager Jose Sanchez Rodriguez, plant manager for BD Biosciences.
