Switzerland, is collaborating with Bioring SA for the development of a new biodegradable coronary stent: "I believe that Bioring SA has made a very important new step which may influence the stent technology in an important way." Bioring SA is a Switzerland-based company which has developed a technology platform in the field of biodegradable polymers. Bioring's expertise is based on the control of the biodegradation period and on the inflammatory process of a family of polymers, which may be either enhanced or diminished. After preliminary studies including animal testing, Bioring SA has already demonstrated the feasibility of its technique in the arterial system. The company is presently developing coronary stents for animal implants.
