Biophan Licensor Issued Broad Patent on Nanomagnetic Coatings; Licensing Negotiations Continue.

ROCHESTER, N.Y. -- Biophan Technologies, Inc. (OTCBB: BIPH; FWB: BTN), a developer of next-generation medical technology, today announced that a patent, for which it holds exclusive rights, has issued, covering nanomagnetic coatings on medical devices.

Nanomagnetic coatings have a broad array of applications in medical imaging and drug delivery, including:

--Imaging of devices such as stents under MRI by using nanomagnetic particle coatings to generate resonant circuits that allow visualization of in-stent restenosis and clotting. This provides a non-invasive alternative to the angiograms generally used for such diagnostics.

--Imaging and tracking of catheters and guidewires under MRI and X-Ray.

--Controlled drug release

--Generation of heat for antithrombotic and anti-cancer treatments

U.S. Patent No. 7,091,412 covers the placement of nanomagnetic coatings on medical devices that are exposed to biological tissues. While many other Biophan patents cover the specific applications listed above, this patent covers the fundamental use of a nanomagnetic coating on a medical device within certain parameters.
