Bionutrics, Inc. Launches A Vitamin-E Replacement.

Business & Health Editors

PHOENIX--(BUSINESS WIRE)--March 20, 2001

Bionutrics, Inc., (Nasdaq: BNRX) announced today that it is launching a new tocotrienol-based cardiovascular health product under the brand name of "Vitenol E(R) 20/20 -- For Heart and Health".

The new patent-protected product is a rice bran extract containing all eight standard isomers isomers (ī´sōmurz),

(including tocotrienols) together with phytosterols. Vitenol- E(R) 20/20 has been shown to be up to 20 times more effective than standard vitamin E (alpha-tocopherol) as an antioxidant antioxidant, substance that prevents or slows the breakdown of another substance by oxygen. Synthetic and natural antioxidants are used to slow the deterioration of gasoline and rubber, and such antioxidants as vitamin C (ascorbic acid), butylated hydroxytoluene . The United States is the world's third largest country in population and the fourth largest country in area.  market for vitamin E approaches $1 billion.

Vitenol- E(R) 20/20 is supplied to Bionutrics by ACH Food Companies, Inc. (a subsidiary of Associated British Foods

Howard Schneider, Ph.D., President of LipoGenics, Inc. (Bionutrics' wholly owned R&D subsidiary), stated that "the importance of alpha-tocopherol vitamin E for cardiovascular health is well-recognized within the health and medical communities. Unfortunately, however, alpha-tocopherol vitamin E is not a highly potent antioxidant nor does it exhibit many benefits of other vitamin E isomers. Alpha-tocopherol vitamin E, therefore, requires relatively high doses to provide its limited beneficial health effects. Our proprietary Vitenol- E(R) 20/20 is formulated with all eight standard isomers of vitamin E, including highly active tocotrienols. This "mixed isomer isomer (ī`səmər), in chemistry, one of two or more compounds having the same molecular formula but different structures (arrangements of atoms in the molecule). Isomerism is the occurrence of such compounds. " composition provides coverage of activities associated with many forms of vitamin E. Also containing high levels of rice bran phytosterols, Vitenol- E(R) 20/20 is unique in its composition and activity, with a significant advantage compared to other vitamin E products.

Bionutrics Health Products' Vice President of Sales and Marketing, Richard Mott Richard Mott (July 21, 1804 - January 22, 1888) was a U.S. Representative from Ohio.

Born in Mamaroneck, New York, Mott attended the Quaker Seminary in Dutchess County, New York. He engaged in banking in New York City.
, further commented "The timing of this rollout is great for us. Last month we launched our new cholesterol-lowering product CARDIO-CIN(TM) and are receiving good responses from the trade. Vitenol- E(R)20/20, positioned as our second new cardiovascular dietary supplement product, complements CARDIO-CIN(TM) and gives us greater strength in a very important category. Vitenol- E(R)20/20, with its patent protection and superior activity, provides an important "point-of difference" to which the trade is highly responsive. Having ACH Food Companies as our manufacturing partner and processing through InCon provides quality and economic advantages for our customers and us. We have great expectations for Vitenol- E(R)20/20."
