Bion Environmental Technologies, Inc. Announces BionSoil Outperforms Fertilizer and Dairy Compost in University Tests.

DENVER, Colo.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Oct. 15, 1999--

BionSoil, Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of Bion Environmental Technologies, Inc. (OTC BB: BION) announced the results of BionSoil(R) growth tests carried out at Utah State University.

The study, conducted by Robert Newhall, Deputy Coordinator for the Western Region Sustainable Agriculture Research & Education Program (SARE), was designed to determine the effectiveness of BionSoil when used as a fertilizer on barley and grain corn trials. BionSoil, an organic material, is produced by Bion's patented Nutrient Management Systems(TM) - used for onsite treatment of the waste generated by large hog and dairy farms.

Yields achieved with BionSoil were compared to those of conventional ammonium nitrate fertilizer as well as a dairy compost produced by members of the university. Barley grown in BionSoil produced 12% more bushels per acre than the conventional fertilizer and 42% more than the dairy compost. Grain corn grown with BionSoil produced 77% more bushels per acre than the compost. "Results from these trials indicate that BionSoil provides a lot of available nitrogen during the whole growing season," reported Newhall. "Combine that with the organic matter content in BionSoil and you have something that offers tremendous benefits for crops grown on Utah soils."
