Bion Environmental Technologies, Inc. Announces BionSoil Outperforms Fertilizer and Dairy Compost in University Tests.DENVER, Colo.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Oct. 15, 1999-- BionSoil, Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary Wholly Owned Subsidiary A subsidiary whose parent company owns 100% of its common stock. Notes: In other words, the parent company owns the company outright and there are no minority owners. of Bion Environmental Technologies, Inc. (OTC OTC See: Over-the-counter. OTC See over-the-counter market (OTC). BB: BION) announced the results of BionSoil(R) growth tests carried out at Utah State University Utah State University, mainly at Logan; coeducational; land-grant and state supported; chartered 1888, opened 1890. It publishes Utah Science, Western Historical Quarterly, and Western American Literary Journal. . The study, conducted by Robert Newhall, Deputy Coordinator for the Western Region Sustainable Agriculture sustainable agriculture n. A method of agriculture that attempts to ensure the profitability of farms while preserving the environment. Research & Education Program (SARE), was designed to determine the effectiveness of BionSoil when used as a fertilizer on barley and grain corn trials. BionSoil, an organic material, is produced by Bion's patented Nutrient Management As defined by the United States Environmental Protection Agency[1], nutrient management is managing the amount, form, placement, and timing of application of nutrients (whether as animal waste, commercial fertilizer, or other form of nutrients) to plants. Systems(TM) - used for onsite treatment of the waste generated by large hog and dairy farms. Yields achieved with BionSoil were compared to those of conventional ammonium nitrate ammonium nitrate, chemical compound, NH4NO3, that exists as colorless, rhombohedral crystals at room temperature but changes to monoclinic crystals when heated above 32°C;. fertilizer as well as a dairy compost produced by members of the university. Barley grown in BionSoil produced 12% more bushels per acre than the conventional fertilizer and 42% more than the dairy compost. Grain corn grown with BionSoil produced 77% more bushels per acre than the compost. "Results from these trials indicate that BionSoil provides a lot of available nitrogen during the whole growing season," reported Newhall. "Combine that with the organic matter content in BionSoil and you have something that offers tremendous benefits for crops grown on Utah soils." "We are quite pleased with this latest demonstration of BionSoil's effectiveness," said Cindy Frick, Ph.D., Bion's Manager of Horticulture Research. "As we continue to broaden our research into the various uses for BionSoil and its derivative products, we expect to see similar results. Although not in every situation, BionSoil continues to produce exceptional performance in a broad range of applications - container plants, landscapes, sports fields, fruits and vegetables and other agricultural crops. We are particularly excited about the preliminary results we are achieving in a number of trials involving high-value crops." Bion's 1999 national testing program is the most extensive trial program to date. Additional results will be issued as they become available. Bion Environmental Technologies, Inc., designs and operates patented biological treatment systems that eliminate the odors from large hog and dairy farms and convert the waste into BionSoil, a nutrient-rich, organic fertilizer material. Both Company and University sponsored growth studies have shown BionSoil to have remarkable plant growth-enhancing characteristics, outperforming expensive, highly engineered synthetic products. Research and test marketing indicates a high demand for BionSoil products and that it can be sold profitably.
