Biomet, Inc. Signs Agreement for Diamond-on-Diamond Articulation Technology.

WARSAW, Ind. -- Biomet, Inc. (Nasdaq:BMET) today announced the signing of a definitive agreement with Diamicron, Inc. of Orem, Utah to develop and distribute, on a worldwide basis, diamond articulation technology for total hip arthroplasty. Based on Diamicron's proprietary polycrystalline diamond composite technology, diamond wear couples offer an alternative to conventional wear couples with both structural integrity and superior wear properties.

Under the terms of the agreement, Biomet has been granted semi-exclusive rights to distribute initial hip products along with Exactech, Inc. (NASDAQ:EXAC) of Gainesville, Florida. In addition, the agreement provides Biomet with option rights to develop and market other extremity joint replacement products, including knee replacements, based on Diamicron's proprietary polycrystalline diamond composite technology.
